The ISAPS can look back with pride on a 25-year history since the first draft of the Constitution and Bylaws was made in São Paulo on October 1-4, 1969, and on the accomplishment of the goals as summarized in the Act of Organization on February 12, 1970, at the Headquarters of the United Nations.

This site was chosen to reaffirm the international scope of the Society.

The Founding and following EXCO Members, always backed by the General Assemblies, guided the Society in a straight direction overcoming birth pains and resisting human temptations.

These are the important facts achieved:

* Aesthetic Surgery has been maintained within Plastic Surgery, as was in the mind of the Founding members. The Society soon became the first Chapter of the IPRS, which recently incorporated Aesthetic Surgery to its own name and logo, IPRAS;
* Interchange of knowledge has been increased through 12 Congresses;
* Specially in developing countries. The Visiting Professors contributed as Ambassadors of the Society.
* New techniques and the result of experience and research were published, first in microform, and later in our outstanding Journal, “Aesthetic Plastic Surgery”.
* A history of Aesthetic Surgery and a 5 volume textbook, written by prominent members of the Society, were edited.

As a result, Aesthetic Surgery has become a respected field of Medicine, represented by a responsible body of Plastic Surgeons.

Aims and Objectives of the Turkish Plastic Surgery Association:

1. To ensure the advancement of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in our country and to keep it at an international level, and to encourage scientific studies on subjects such as Maxillofacial Surgery, Craniofacial Surgery, Microsurgery, Hand Surgery, Accident Surgery, Congenital Malformation Surgery, Burn Treatment and Aesthetic Surgery within its scope, To organize scientific meetings and symposiums so that information exchange can be continuous and up-to-date.

2. To encourage international exchange of information in order to reach a high scientific level on the above-mentioned subjects, to establish relations with universities and hospitals that are advanced in these subjects and to make use of them scientifically, to establish relations with other national and international associations interested in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and to be a member of these associations .

3. To hold scientific congresses at least once every two years.

4. To ensure that young Plastic Surgeons are raised to the level of international standards so that they can be good examples and leaders for future generations,

5. To support and defend professional studies among the members in terms of science and law,

6. To make an effort for the young Plastic Surgeons to receive higher education in well-known centers abroad, to strive for the provision of domestic and foreign scholarships,

7. To ensure the participation of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the newly trained group in important congresses abroad in order to stay at the scientific international level, to organize international congresses, symposiums and courses in our country,

8. Considering that financial means are needed in order to keep Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at an advanced level and to make the necessary efforts effectively, making efforts to establish the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation in order to be more beneficial to Plastic Surgeons and therefore to the patients.

9. To warn those concerned and take the necessary precautions in the face of irresponsible behaviors that are related to the subjects included in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, injuring the dignity of the profession and humiliating them.
